Terms of Service

These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your access to and use of the SnapAction mobile application, including its share extension, related features, and any cloud-backed functionality we make available through the app (collectively, the "App").

By downloading, accessing, or using the App, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the App.

1. Eligibility

You may use the App only if:

  • you are at least 13 years old or the minimum age required by applicable law where you live, whichever is higher;
  • you can form a binding agreement or have permission from a parent or legal guardian where required; and
  • your use of the App is not prohibited by applicable law.

2. The App

SnapAction is a productivity app designed to help you turn images or photos into useful actions. Depending on the version and platform, the App may allow you to:

  • import, capture, or share images into the App;
  • extract text from images using on-device OCR;
  • generate AI-based entities, classifications, and suggested actions from extracted text;
  • create calendar events or reminders based on reviewed suggestions;
  • store imported items and action history locally on your device; and
  • submit feedback or use guest-session features.

We may add, change, suspend, or remove features at any time.

3. Guest Sessions and Accounts

The current implementation uses anonymous guest sessions by default. This means:

  • you may receive a service-backed session identifier without providing a traditional account login;
  • your session may be tied to the device and local app state; and
  • if you sign out, uninstall the App, or clear local data, you may permanently lose access to that guest session and related local content.

If we later offer additional sign-in methods, those features may be governed by supplemental terms or disclosures presented in the App.

You are responsible for activity that occurs through your use of the App and for maintaining the security of your device.

4. License

Subject to these Terms, SnapAction grants you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, non-sublicensable, revocable license to install and use the App for your personal, lawful use on devices you own or control.

This license does not give you any right to:

  • copy, modify, distribute, sell, lease, sublicense, or exploit the App except as expressly allowed by law;
  • reverse engineer, decompile, disassemble, or attempt to derive source code except where applicable law prohibits restriction;
  • remove proprietary notices;
  • circumvent quotas, limits, security features, or technical restrictions; or
  • use the App to build a competing product or service.

5. Your Content

You retain any rights you have in the images, text, and other content you import, capture, share, submit, or create through the App ("Your Content").

You grant SnapAction a limited, non-exclusive, worldwide license to host, process, transmit, reproduce, and use Your Content solely as reasonably necessary to:

  • operate the App;
  • perform OCR and AI analysis you request;
  • generate and display results;
  • create actions you approve;
  • maintain and secure the service; and
  • enforce these Terms and comply with law.

You represent and warrant that:

  • you have the necessary rights, permissions, and authority to use and submit Your Content through the App;
  • Your Content and your use of the App do not violate any law, contract, intellectual property right, privacy right, publicity right, or other rights of any person or entity; and
  • you will not submit content that is unlawful, fraudulent, abusive, infringing, deceptive, or harmful.

6. AI Features and Important Disclaimers

The App includes automated OCR and AI-assisted analysis features. These features are provided for convenience and productivity assistance only.

You acknowledge and agree that:

  • OCR and AI outputs can be wrong, incomplete, outdated, or misleading;
  • suggested entities, dates, reminders, or event details may not reflect the source content accurately;
  • you must review all extracted text, suggested actions, and calendar/reminder details before relying on them or saving them;
  • the App is not a substitute for your own judgment; and
  • you will not rely on the App for emergency, medical, legal, financial, compliance, or other high-risk decisions where an error could cause harm.

The current implementation performs OCR locally on-device and sends extracted text to cloud services for additional AI processing. You are responsible for deciding whether the content you choose to analyze is appropriate for that workflow.

7. Permissions and Device Integrations

Some App features require access to device or platform services such as:

  • camera;
  • photo or media library;
  • calendars;
  • reminders; and
  • share extension workflows.

You can deny these permissions, but some features may not work. If you choose to create calendar events or reminders, you authorize the App to send the relevant information to the applicable system service or account you selected through your device.

You remain responsible for reviewing, editing, and deleting any events or reminders created through the App.

8. Acceptable Use

You agree not to:

  • use the App in violation of any law or regulation;
  • use the App to process or distribute unlawful, infringing, defamatory, abusive, exploitative, or harmful content;
  • interfere with or disrupt the App, servers, or networks;
  • access the App through unauthorized means;
  • attempt to probe, scan, or test vulnerabilities except where expressly authorized;
  • use bots, scripts, or automated means to abuse the App or evade usage limits;
  • misrepresent your identity or your right to use submitted content;
  • submit malware, malicious code, or harmful files; or
  • use the App in a way that could create liability for SnapAction or third parties.

We may investigate and take appropriate action, including suspending or terminating access, if we believe you violated these Terms.

9. Feedback

If you send us suggestions, ideas, ratings, bug reports, or other feedback, you agree that we may use that feedback without restriction or compensation to you, provided doing so does not reduce any non-waivable rights you have under applicable law.

10. Third-Party Services

The App may depend on third-party services, platforms, or providers, including:

  • Supabase for authentication and backend infrastructure;
  • AI providers configured by SnapAction, including OpenAI or OpenRouter; and
  • Apple, Google, and related operating system or app store services.

Your use of third-party services may also be subject to those parties' terms and policies. SnapAction is not responsible for third-party services, content, availability, or policies.

If the App is downloaded through an app store, you also agree that the relevant app store provider may have separate terms that apply to your use of the App.

11. Fees, Paid Features, and Subscriptions

The App may include usage limits, such as a limited number of free analyses. We may change those limits at any time.

If we offer paid plans, subscriptions, or in-app purchases:

  • pricing, billing terms, renewal details, and cancellation information will be presented at the time of purchase;
  • additional product-specific terms may apply; and
  • app store billing rules may control where the purchase is made through Apple or Google.

Unless otherwise stated, all fees are non-refundable except where required by law or the applicable app store's rules.

12. Intellectual Property

The App, including its software, design, branding, interfaces, and all related intellectual property rights, is owned by SnapAction or its licensors and is protected by applicable law.

Except for the limited license granted in these Terms, no rights are granted to you by implication, estoppel, or otherwise.

13. Privacy

Our collection and use of information through the App is described in the Privacy Policy. By using the App, you acknowledge that you have read the Privacy Policy.

14. Suspension and Termination

We may suspend, restrict, or terminate your access to all or part of the App at any time, with or without notice, if:

  • we believe you violated these Terms;
  • we need to protect the App, users, or third parties;
  • required by law;
  • the App or a feature is discontinued; or
  • your use creates operational, legal, or security risk.

You may stop using the App at any time. Termination does not limit any rights or remedies that accrued before termination.

15. Disclaimer of Warranties

To the fullest extent permitted by law, the App is provided "as is" and "as available," without warranties of any kind, whether express, implied, statutory, or otherwise, including implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, title, non-infringement, quiet enjoyment, accuracy, or reliability.

Without limiting the foregoing, SnapAction does not warrant that:

  • the App will be uninterrupted, error-free, or secure;
  • OCR or AI outputs will be accurate or suitable for your needs;
  • suggested actions will be complete or correct;
  • content will not be lost or corrupted; or
  • defects will be corrected on any specific timeline.

Some jurisdictions do not allow certain warranty disclaimers, so some of the above may not apply to you.

16. Limitation of Liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, SnapAction and its affiliates, licensors, service providers, and partners will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary, or punitive damages, or for any loss of profits, revenues, goodwill, data, or use, arising out of or related to the App or these Terms, even if advised of the possibility of such damages.

To the fullest extent permitted by law, the total aggregate liability of SnapAction for all claims arising out of or relating to the App or these Terms will not exceed the greater of:

  • the amount you paid to SnapAction for the App in the 12 months before the event giving rise to the claim; or
  • USD 50.

Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits liability that cannot be excluded or limited under applicable law.

17. Indemnity

To the fullest extent permitted by law, you agree to defend, indemnify, and hold harmless SnapAction and its affiliates, licensors, service providers, and partners from and against claims, liabilities, damages, losses, and expenses, including reasonable legal fees, arising out of or related to:

  • Your Content;
  • your misuse of the App;
  • your violation of these Terms; or
  • your violation of any law or the rights of another person or entity.

18. Changes to the App or These Terms

We may update the App and these Terms from time to time. If we make material changes to these Terms, we may provide notice through the App or another appropriate channel. The updated Terms will become effective when posted or when otherwise stated.

Your continued use of the App after the effective date of updated Terms means you accept the updated Terms, to the extent permitted by law.

19. Miscellaneous

If any provision of these Terms is found unenforceable, the remaining provisions will remain in full force and effect.

Our failure to enforce any provision of these Terms is not a waiver of that provision.

You may not assign or transfer these Terms without our prior written consent. We may assign these Terms as part of a merger, acquisition, reorganization, or sale of assets, or by operation of law.
